We’re excited to announce that Alan Palmer, Jennifer McKeon, Rahul Verma and Ian Hedding will be representing JMJ at the upcoming American Fuel and Petrochemicals Manufacturers (AFPM) Annual Meeting March 10-12. Alan will be sharing his insights on ‘The Next Generation of Workplace Safety’ between 2.15 – 3.15pm on on Tuesday March 12 . Alongside Alan will be Jennifer McKeon, Senior Vice President and Sterling Neblett, Vice President & General Manager, Lake Charles Manufacturing Complex, CITGO Petroleum Corporation.
In his engaging session, Alan Palmer will challenge traditional notions of workplace safety by exploring a paradigm shift in safety culture. For decades, safety has been perceived merely as the absence of incidents, injuries, and damage. However, contemporary safety thinking urges us to view safety as a proactive presence rather than a reactive absence, prompting the crucial question: “The presence of what?”
During this interactive session, participants will delve into the fundamental elements of a robust safety culture and approach. Alan will advocate for a proactive stance that focuses on creating the desired work environment, rather than solely preventing undesired outcomes. By embracing principles of human performance, cutting-edge safety science, and psychological and behavioral safety, Alan will share and discuss the most effective practices implemented by industry leaders within client organizations.
This session promises to be both enlightening and thought-provoking, offering attendees actionable insights and strategies to foster safer workplaces and drive sustained performance improvement.
